Meet Our NEW Dyed Wool Roving!

Did you know the same fiber you know and love from our yarns is available as wool roving?
For years, Brown Sheep Company has offered undyed, unspun wool roving for crafters spinning and needle felting needs. All processing of our wool roving happens in the United States; we source the fiber from neighboring Colorado, and clean, comb, and card it in South Carolina.
Brown Sheep Company’s wool roving is a Colombian-Rambouillet cross of about 23-25 microns in fineness. It’s a good quality fiber with a nice, woolly feel.
Most of our yarns are dyed after spinning. However, last year we purchased a new dye vat that allows us to dye bumps of wool in its unspun, roving form. We now have 24 colors of wool roving, including our original, natural, undyed roving.
Our wool roving is sold by the yard, which is a good starter amount for needle felting. You can also purchase it in a half-pound ball (40 yards), which would be a more suitable amount for spinning. We can’t wait to see the yarns crafters spin up with our new dyed roving! There are so many possibilities for fun marled and multicolor yarns.
If your passion is for needle felting, don’t forget to take a look at our needle felting kits. Released last fall, they were the first sneak peek at our dyed wool roving in action!
