Inis Mor Scarf and Hat

The hand knit Inis Mor Scarf and Hat set capture the spirit of the eponymous Irish island. Knit with Harborside Aran, twisting cables and woven plaits mirror the Aran island’s rugged cliffs and verdant winding trails.

We designed Harborside Aran with the Aran Islands in mind. The region inspired a yarn that could recreate the beloved fisherman’s sweaters known to knitters worldwide.  A rich color palette, smooth, soft feel, and crisp, rounded finish lend the yarn to high relief stitch patterns. You can learn more about Harborside Aran in our introduction here, which includes swatches (pre- and post-blocking) in various stitch patterns.

The Inis Mor Scarf and Hat were a natural choice for our first pattern in Harborside Aran. Designed by Laurie Alkire, the set includes instructions for a small and large hat, as well as a scarf measuring 60″ x 10″. The pattern includes both written and charted instructions, and cable motifs include a 4-band knot and cable braid. Knitters will only need 4 skeins of Harborside Aran to complete both hat and scarf.

Brown Sheep Company is delighted to offer knitters the Inis Mor Scarf and Hat pattern for free with newsletter registration. Sign up now to receive your free copy!
